Portland Awarded Membership in Union Pacific's Train Town USA Registry

Union Pacific's 150th Anniversary

Roseville, Calif., July 13, 2012 – Portland, Ore., has been awarded membership in Union Pacific's Train Town USA Registry as part of the railroad's year-long 150th anniversary celebration. Mayor Sam Adams from Portland received an official Train Town USA resolution signed by Union Pacific Chairman Jim Young today, making Portland an official part of Union Pacific's 150th anniversary celebration across its 23-state network.

"It is a privilege to be in Portland today as we make this city the latest to join our Train Town USA Registry," said Brock Nelson, director, public affairs for Oregon. "Union Pacific looks forward to the next 150 years in Portland."

Portland has a long history with railroads, dating back to the 1880s. And today, businesses in the Portland area and the state of Oregon work with Union Pacific to ship products and services nationwide with greater efficiency and higher customer satisfaction than ever before.
