Union Pacific Contributes the Equivalent of a Boxcar of Food to Kansas Food Bank - Cargill Cares Complex

Omaha, Neb., December 08, 2008 – Union Pacific Railroad today is helping keep Kansas Food Bank - Cargill Cares Complex stocked during these tough economic times by contributing $10,000 to purchase 200,000 pounds of food, enough to fill a boxcar.

"Union Pacific has assisted the communities we operate in, like Wichita, throughout our history during tough times like these," said Kurt Zalar, Union Pacific Railroad's superintendent transportation services - Wichita Service Unit. "We are pleased to be able to once again help our neighbors."

"The Kansas Food Bank is very thankful to Union Pacific for their support during these uncertain economic times. We look forward to a long relationship with our new partner in the fight against hunger in our great state. Their support will go a long way in helping us fulfill our goal of having No Kansan Go Hungry," said Brian Walker, President and CEO, Kansas Food Bank.

Union Pacific's $10,000 contribution will be used by Kansas Food Bank to purchase 200,000 pounds of food or the equivalent of 150,000 meals, which would take more than 1,200 grocery cart baskets to hold.
