Union Pacific Sends Local Kids to the Circus

Omaha, Neb., July 18, 2005 – When the "Greatest Show on Earth" rolls into Los Angeles on July 20, it will be tracks, not roads, that pave the way. For more than 100 years, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® has traveled the western United States over the Union Pacific Railroad. This year, as an indication of their long-enduring partnership, Ringling Bros. and Union Pacific will provide hundreds of circus tickets for deserving children in states where Union Pacific operates.

"Union Pacific is proud to provide transportation services for the circus," Darlynn Herweg, director-community support, said, "and we’re pleased that this partnership has provided us with a unique way to give back to the communities in which we operate. We know the kids will really enjoy the show."

Union Pacific designated the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles as the recipients of 50 tickets each to the opening night event. Charitable organizations in Omaha, Phoenix, Houston, San Antonio and Las Vegas also received tickets.
