Union Pacific Employees Donate More Than $100,000 to Tsunami Relief Efforts

Omaha, Neb., May 27, 2005 – As the need for relief continues following the devastating December 26 tsunami, Union Pacific employees have donated $107,609 to organizations involved in the international relief effort. In addition, Union Pacific Corporation is adding nearly $70,000 to employees’ donations, bringing Union Pacific’s total donation to $177,182.

"With employees leading the way, we launched our fund-raising efforts immediately following the disaster and continued accepting donations through April to meet the area’s long-term relief needs, and to give all of our employees the opportunity to donate," said Darlynn Herweg, director of community support-Corporate Relations. "The response from employees reflects their ongoing commitment to support those in need, wherever they may be."

Organizations receiving donations from Union Pacific are American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Catholic Relief Services, Salvation Army and Save the Children.
