2024/25 Wheat Selective Rate Adjustments
Effective June 1, 2024, Union Pacific will implement selective rate adjustments on Wheat commodities in UP 4052. Key components of the Renewal include:
- Union Pacific will be making rate adjustments for CA and AZ in item numbers 1103 and 1104
- Rates will be available to view via the Price and Document Inquiry system by April 30, 2024. UP: Prices & Price Documents

Domestic Wheat items by Destination State:
- 1100 South (OK, TX,LA)
- 1101 Midwest (KS, NE, IA)
- 1102 Mountain ID, WY, CO, UT, MT, NM
- 1103 West CA, OR, WA
- 1104 Southwest - AZ and NV
- 1105 Eastern Manifest and Shuttle
- 1106 Norther - MN and WI
For Wheat (STCCs - 1133, 1135, 1137, 113940) the new rate changes will be applied for Heavy covered hoppers (capacity greater than or equal to 5,001 cubic feet OR total allowable gross weight on rail exceeds 286,000 pounds). Light covered hoppers (capacity less than or equal to 5,000 cubic feet OR total allowable gross weight on rail is less than or equal to 285,999 pounds) will be 9.65% less than the Heavy covered hopper rates.
