Reporting Railroad Spills and Environmental Incidents

Your efforts to help maintain an environmentally responsible railroad are much appreciated.

Please report all spills and environmental incidents involving UPRR, regardless of quantity, to the Response Management Communications Center at 1-888-UPRR-COP (1-888-877-7267).

State Reportable Quantities
Arizona Report all spills.
Arkansas Report spills which do or may reach waters of state.
California 42 gallons or more.
Colorado Report spills which do or may reach waters of state.
Idaho Report spills of 25 gallons or more or any amount into waters of the state.
Illinois Report spills into environment.
Iowa Report any quantity onto land or water within 6 hours.
Kansas Report spills into waters of state or which cause pollution to soil.
Louisiana Report oil spills of 1 barrel (42 gallons) or more. Report hazardous materials spills of any quantity.
Minnesota Report 5 gallons or more of petroleum, toxic, flammable corrosive or any other environmentally damaging material within one hour.
Missouri Report spills of 50 gallons, or any amount that could reach a waterway.
Montana Report any spills.
Nebraska Report spills of 25 gallons, or any quantity into waters of state.
Nevada Report spills of 25 gallons, or into groundwater or 3 cubic yards of soil.
New Mexico Report any spills which are a detriment to health or environment.
Oklahoma Report spills into environment or waters of state.
Oregon Report spills into waters of state or over 42 gallons on land.
Tennessee Report spills into waters of state.
Texas Report any spills into the environment.
Utah Report spills into or that may reach waters of state.
Washington Report spills which may enter waters of state.
Wisconsin Report discharges of hazardous substances that adversely impact the public health and environment.
For Pesticides: Dry fertilizer – more than 250 lbs. Liquid fertilizer – more than 25 gals.
Wyoming Report spills which enter or threaten waters of state.
