Transcaer®
TRANSCAER® (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) is a national outreach initiative designed to:
- Improve community awareness of hazardous materials found in transportation.
- Encourage partnerships between citizens and industry.
- Assist emergency responders in planning and preparing for hazardous material-related incidents.
- Assist emergency responders in evaluating their community's emergency response plan.
Training Provided to Non-Employees

UP participates in various TRANSCAER activities, both locally and nationally. As part of UP's TRANSCAER efforts, Hazardous Materials Management (HMM) personnel and hazardous material special agents presented emergency planning and response training classes to nearly 5,506 emergency response and LEPC personnel during 2006. UP also is involved in TRANSCAER on the national, regional and state levels.
