Trains carrying intermodal containers will interchange at Eagle Pass, Texas, to and from Ferromex, Mexico's largest railroad, which will operate trains between the border and Monterrey. Union Pacific and Ferromex have made significant terminal, track and equipment investments to optimize the operating success of this new service.

    November 14, 2013 - Union Pacific Railroad today announced that Big Boy No. 4014 has commenced the second phase of its journey to Union Pacific's Heritage Fleet Operations headquarters in Cheyenne, Wyo., from Fairplex, home of the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona, Calif. The 1,260-mile trek began with No. 4014 moving across the Fairgrounds parking lot on temporary track installed specifically for the move, to Union Pacific's Colton, Calif., rail yard. It marks No. 4014's first move in more than two decades from its home at the RailGiants Train Museum.

  • Union Pacific Railroad Increasing Train Speed on Rail Line in Wichita, Kan.

    November 13, 2013 - Recent track upgrades meeting or exceeding all applicable Federal Railroad Administration standards will allow Union Pacific Railroad to increase the speed of its trains from 30 mph to 49 mph on nearly four miles of its rail line in Wichita, Kan., between near 63rd St. and just north of the Arkansas River.

Selections are based on the strength of a company's military initiatives or events, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, and company policies on National Guard and military reserve service. This year, Union Pacific is ranked second on the list, up 11 spots from last year.
