Union Pacific Announces Openings for Locomotive Electronic Technicians and Diesel Electricians
Omaha, Neb., April 18, 2008 With nearly 40 percent of its workforce reaching retirement age in the next five years and the strong demand for railroad service, Union Pacific Railroad is aggressively recruiting and hiring locomotive electronic technicians and diesel electricians to ensure consumer products, automobiles, coal and food continue to move across the nation’s rail system.
"Diesel locomotive electricians and mechanics perform very important jobs and are responsible for inspecting, repairing and maintaining the electrical components on diesel electric locomotives," said Roy Schroer, assistant vice president - Human Resources, "Their work is critical to the success of Union Pacific and its customers."
Diesel electricians perform scheduled electrical and electronic inspections in compliance with company and industry standards, inspect various small and large components, inspect and test circuitry with electrical testing equipment including high and low precision measuring instruments -- micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers.
