Union Pacific Named a Top 50 Employer for Hispanic Working Women
Omaha, Neb., September 20, 2006 For the fourth consecutive year, Union Pacific has been selected by LATINA Style Magazine as one of the LATINA Style 50 best companies for Latina employees in the United States.
The annual award is given to companies that provide sensitivity to professional Hispanic women’s needs and goals in the workplace. This is the ninth year the magazine has presented the recognition, and the report of the top 50 companies is considered the most respected survey of corporate America’s policies and practices as they pertain to professional Hispanic women.

Union Pacific’s strengths include practices and policies that promote recruitment and advancement opportunities for women, employee benefits, work/life balance initiatives, mentoring and leadership training. Advertising and recruitment efforts in Hispanic media as well as Union Pacific’s three branches of its Latino Employee Network were also considered positive initiatives.
Companies responding to LATINA Style’s questionnaire were evaluated based on workplace issues that LATINA Style readers identified as the most important to them. Among the principal areas evaluated were: number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/child care support, employee benefits, women’s issues, downsize retraining and Hispanic relations. This year, more than 800 corporations were considered for the special recognition.
