Brian Gorton Named Superintendent of Union Pacific Railroad's Wichita Service Unit
Omaha, Neb., August 8, 2005 Union Pacific Railroad has named Brian Gorton superintendent – transportation services of its Wichita Service Unit. The appointment is effective immediately.
Gorton replaces Todd Wimmer who was promoted to general superintendent – Portland Service Unit.
As superintendent – transportation services, Gorton, 38, is responsible for the safe operation of an average of 60 trains a day over nearly 1,700 miles of track in Kansas, Oklahoma, eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle.
Gorton started his career in 1987 with Consolidated Rail Corporation (CONRAIL) in the Track Maintenance Department. He held various positions in the track maintenance and operations departments while at CONRAIL. Gorton joined Union Pacific in 1998 as director – road operations. Prior to being named superintendent – transportation services of the Wichita Service Unit, Gorton held the position of director – transportation services in North Little Rock, Ark.
