Union Pacific Works Hand in Hand with Customs
Union Pacific is helping Customs and Border Patrol agents with their fight to discover illegal immigrants and drugs smuggled on trains. The company has towers throughout Arizona for agents to use for inspecting trains traveling through the area.
Union Pacific has had a long standing relationship with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Union Pacific Police assist ICE with continuous monitoring of trains and random searches.
Just recently, UP Police and ICE Agents discovered a load of marijuana on a train in Southern Arizona. Agents seized 48 bales of marijuana weighing a total of 1,032 pounds. Currently no arrests have been made and ICE and UP Police are investigating the seizure.
