Friend To Friend Network Monthly Update

With your support the Friend To Friend Network helped 52 railroad families in need across the system in July 2010. Following the record month in of 128 families helped in June, this pushes our average to helping 2.4 families in need every day this year! There are many active or retired railroaders, their spouses or their children who have suffered a medical-related emergency that required hospitalization or time off work or a dwelling-related emergency following a fire, flood or other weather event, that caused them to be out of their primary home. Please help the Friend To Friend Network find these Railroad families by calling in their information. Calls are toll-free, completely confidential, answered 24X7 and checks usually are on the way the very next day. Don’t let suffering Railroad families near you get overlooked!

On July 14, Omaha Safety Manager Cyndi Dudik used the Friend To Friend website to make the 5,000th payroll deduction pledge to the Friend To Friend Network. The Friend To Friend Network has helped thousands of Railroad families recover from health and dwelling related emergencies and for the year 65% of Network donations are from payroll deduction.

July Friend To Friend donations were received from Union Pacific Employee Club #1 Cheyenne, WY Ambassadors Skip & Pat Reed and also from the Union Pacific Railroad Washington DC office for matching gifts to the Fund For Effective Government.

This month marks the 86th Annual Union Pacific Employee Club Convention. This year, it will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock, Ark. Just six years ago in 2004, the Union Pacific Employee Club founded the Network, and Friend to Friend looks forward to continuing to provide and receive support from the 57 clubs located across the system. There are many charities to choose from, so remember that when you give to the Friend To Friend Network it is railroad families helping other railroad families and:

  1. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible
  2. Your donation goes to active and retired railroad families like yours in their time of need and
  3. 100% of your donations go directly to the families in need because all administrative costs are covered by volunteers or through sponsorship from the Union Pacific Railroad.
