Fuel Surcharge Programs
Effective October 1, 2007, Union Pacific will upgrade from ALK Technologies' PC*Miler Rail Version 13 software to Version 14. Coincident with this version upgrade, UP will convert from the PC*Miler shortest non-familized router (SNII) to the new PC*Miler Rail Fuel Surcharge router (FNII) to calculate its fuel surcharge mileage. This new software version simplifies customer usage as the new rail "Fuel Surcharge" mileage router calculates miles for local moves and total miles for interline shipments observing each carrier's routing preference for its mileage segments, thus making it transparent for customers.This change will be applicable to all local and interline prices containing mileage HDF fuel surcharge.
