BAP (formerly Rarus Railway) operates freight service from a connection with BNSF at Butte to Anaconda., MT (25.7 miles).  Traffic includes scrap, copper slag, and copper concentrates.

History

Rarus Railway returned to its former name, Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway, in September 2007. Rarus Railway took over the former Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway on May 1, 1985.  The line was built by the BA&P in the 1890s.  It was electrified from 1913 to 1967, and passengers were carried until April 1955. The BA&P property was transferred to the State of Montana in 1985 and subsequently purchased by Rarus from the State in 1990.
