Rock & Rail, Inc. RRRR #661

Nature of Firm
Rock & Rail, Inc. operates freight service on the former UP Tennessee Pass route between Canon City and Parkdale, a distance of 11.75 miles. RRRR bought the line in July 1998. Rail is 136 pound, and the maximum load limit just prior to sale was 268,000 pounds. The major customer on the former UP trackage is the Agile Stone quarry at Parkdale. Interchange with UP occurs at Canon City.

RRRR has also acquired the former BNSF operation between Pueblo and Canon City, which consists mainly of trackage rights over UP between those stations. This portion of the RRRR operation serves some intermediate stations such as Portland and Florence.

Tourist passenger service through the Royal Gorge is provided by the Canon City & Royal Gorge Railroad, a non-common carrier partner of RRRR in ownership of the former UP. Colorado Materials is now the owner of the Agile Stone facility and the Rock & Rail line.
