IC&E operates freight service over 1,400 miles of track in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. IC&E’s main lines run from Chicago (Pingree Grove, IL) to Kansas City, MO and from Sabula, IA to LaCresent, MN to Minneapolis- St Paul using trackage rights over the Canadian Pacific. Branch lines run from Marquette to Sheldon, IA; Austin to Jackson, MN; Mason City, IA to Rosemount, MN via Austin; and from Davis Jct, IL to Janesville, WI. Traffic includes agricultural products, coal, steel, chemicals, forest products and cement.
History
Most of the company’s track was Milwaukee Road trackage acquired by SOO Line following the abandonment of MILW. Canadian Pacific (SOO) sold the lines to I&M Rail Link in April 1997. IC&E began operation on July 31, 2002 when it took over the operations of I&M Rail Link.
