Nature of Firm

CBRY operates freight service from a connection with the UP at Magma to Winkelman, AZ, 54 miles. A branch line runs from Ray Junction to Ray, AZ, 7 miles. Traffic includes copper concentrates, ore finished and unfinished cooper, sulfuric acid, lumber and military equipment. Connection is made with the San Manuel Arizona Railroad (SMA) at Hayden, AZ. CBRY handles SMA traffic to interchange with UP at Magma.

History

The line was built by the Choctaw & Memphis Railroad which was purchased by the Choctaw, Oklahoma & Gulf railroad in June, 1900. The CRI&P acquired the line in March, 1904, and it became part of their Memphis-Tucumcari main line. When Rock Island abandoned operations, it was acquired by the present owners. Short line service between Perry and Pulaski started in June, 1980, In June, 1986 LRWN was authorized to operate the 35 mile track segment from Perry to Danville, owned by Continental Grain Co.
