BLR operates freight service from Greenville, TX to Franklin/Titus County Line (65.6 miles), with trackage rights to Mt Pleasant, TX for interchange. BLR serves as a handling carrier for Northeast Texas Rural Transportation District (NETEX) which owns all the rights to the corridor. Traffic includes forest products, grain and agricultural products.
History
On November 9, 1995, NETEX purchased a 31-mile rail line from Greenville to west of Sulphur Springs, TX from the SP. In April 1996, the East Texas Central Railroad Company started operating on the line. On May 1, 1999, BLR acquired the contract to operate the line. On October 1, 2000, NETEX purchased 34.6 miles of rail line from west of Sulphur Springs to Franklin/Titus County Line from the UP.
