Ordering Your Rail Car
Order Your Rail Car Online
With a User ID you can access the Car Order application. Car Order allows you to create new car orders and check on the status of existing orders. (This application is not available to customers with a conditional User ID.)
Create a Pattern
The first time you use the Car Order application, talk to a UP representative. We will create a pattern required to place car orders. After completing your order, you will be given an acknowledgment which includes your car order number. The car order number enables you to take advantage of the following options:
Identify Rail Cars Applied
Find out what rail cars (equipment ID numbers) Union Pacific Railroad has applied to your order.
Identify Rail Car Specs
View specific details, dimensions and characteristics of the equipment you will receive to load.
Trace Your Rail Cars
Project when the rail cars you ordered are going to be reaching your facility by viewing car status, location and estimated time of arrival.
If you have forgotten your Car Order Number, you may view cars online within the Car Order Application.
