What We Don’t Ship

Union Pacific Railroad does not ship passengers, pets and other living things — and most personal property.  We do not participate in moving your personal household items nationwide, please contact a national moving company.

How We Ship It

Ship by Rail Car

A point-to-point rail option may offer the most economical solution if your facility has access to rail tracks. With a fleet of over 100,000 rail cars of different types, we'll help you select the one best designed to handle your products.

Ship by Container or Trailer

For smaller shipment quantities and for shippers without access to rail tracks, our Intermodal service combines the best of truck and rail delivery. Intermodal puts a truck container on a rail car for movement across the country and back on truck for final delivery, and we offer a fleet of Union Pacific Railroad-owned containers for your use.

Ship by Truck & Rail

For  shippers with larger shipment quantities, but without access to rail tracks, our transload capabilities can combine shipments into rail car quantities, then break it back out at destination.

Where We Ship

Union Pacific Railroad tracks (shown in red) blanket the western two-thirds of the United States. Working with our rail connections and motor carriers, we can seamlessly handle your shipments between points anywhere in North America. With our port access, we can reach beyond the North American border to handle your import and export shipments, as well.  Wherever your shipment is going, Union Pacific Railroad has a solution for you.
