Holiday Schedule
Christmas & New Year's Holiday Operating Plan - Updated December 18, 2009
Union Pacific will operate a holiday network plan during both the Christmas and New Year's weekends. For both holidays, this affects operations from 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening through 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday following the holiday (Christmas: Wednesday, December 23 through Saturday, December 26, 2009. New Year's: Wednesday, December 30 through Saturday, January 2, 2010).
Thank you for your cooperation. On behalf of all of the employees of Union Pacific, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
Christmas:
Every attempt will be made to have as many crews home for Christmas as possible.
The intermodal and automotive network will have reduced operations with selected annulments and consolidations depending on volumes. Coal, grain and military trains will operate. Other bulk trains will be held at origin. Yard and local operations will be curtailed based on traffic levels and customer needs. Critical customer-specific switching requests will be protected.
Manifest trains will not originate between 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23 through 7:00 a.m. on the Saturday, December 26. During this time frame, manifest trains enroute will be held on line, primarily at crew changes, except to balance crews back to their home terminal for the holiday.
Interchange operations will be coordinated as required with connecting railroads at all locations.
