Marketing and Sales: Who We Are

Union Pacific Railroad has one of the most diversified commodity mixes in the industry, including chemicals, coal, consumer products, food and food products, forest products, grain and grain products, government, intermodal, metals, minerals, waste, and automobiles and parts. The Marketing and Sales group is organized into six major commodity groups, with finance and operational expertise within each group, in order to serve the specialized needs of each customer. The Mexico marketing group offers customers in each of these commodity areas expertise and unique service capabilities in expediting shipments to and from the border.

The Marketing and Sales organization also offers customers the advantage of a dedicated Damage Prevention team and an Industrial Development group for the specialized services related to site and location analysis for business development.

Jack Koraleski, Executive Vice President - Marketing and Sales

John J. Koraleski was named executive vice president, Marketing and Sales of Union Pacific in March 1999. In his position, Koraleski is responsible for Union Pacific's six major business units: agriculture, automobiles, chemicals, energy, industrial products and intermodal. Collectively, the business units account for over $11 billion in annual revenue. He also oversees the railroad's National Customer Service Center.

During his more than 30 years with the railroad, Koraleski has held a number of executive positions including controller of Union Pacific Corporation and executive vice president, Finance and chief financial officer of Union Pacific Railroad, the positions he held before his current appointment. He also has held positions in the railroad's Information Technologies, Real Estate and Administrative departments.

Koraleski is chairman of Union Pacific Distribution Services, a rail-based logistics provider and wholly owned subsidiary of the railroad. He is a member of the board of directors of Insight Network Logistics, LLC, and is vice president, Finance and a member of the board of trustees of the Union Pacific Foundation.

Additionally, Koraleski is a member of the board of directors of Bridges Investment Fund, chairman of the national advisory committee for the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and honorary member of the board of directors of the Nebraska Methodist Hospital Board and the Nebraska Methodist Hospital Foundation. He also serves on the advisory board of the YWCA and has sponsored the Union Pacific YWCA campaign drive for fourteen years, twice serving as co-chair of the citywide campaign.

Koraleski earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

He and his wife, Stephanie, are the parents of four children.

Paul Hammes Vice President and General Manager - Agricultural Products

Paul Hammes is Vice President and General Manager - Agricultural Products in the Marketing & Sales Department at Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. Agricultural Products, one of the six major commodity groups, includes grain, grain products, beverages, sweeteners and food. These commodities represent approximately $2.0 billion in annual revenue and nearly 900,000 carloads to the combined UP-SP system.

Paul joined Union Pacific in 2003 as Assistant Vice President Grain and Grain Products. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he acquired his bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. Prior to joining Union Pacific, Paul was Assistant Vice President for Cargill, Inc. in their North American Grain and Oilseed business unit. Paul resides in Omaha with his wife Linda. They have three children.

Julie Krehbiel, Vice President and General Manager - Automotive

Julie Krehbiel was named Vice President and General Manager - Automotive in April 2005.

She is responsible for managing Union Pacific's automotive business unit. Automotive is one of Union Pacific's largest commodities, representing approximately $1.2 billion of annual revenue. The business unit manages all commercial aspects of the automotive business, which includes coordinating the operation of the network to meet the needs of its customers.

Diane K. Duren, Vice President and General Manager - Chemicals

As Vice President and General Manager - Chemicals, Diane Duren is responsible for Marketing and Sales activities within the chemical and petroleum industries. Diane has held a variety of positions in the Finance and Marketing & Sales Departments with Union Pacific since joining the company in 1985, most recently as Vice President and General Manager - Agricultural Products. Diane is a graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, where she acquired her bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting. She began her career as a certified public accountant with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in Omaha. Diane resides in Omaha with her husband, Drew Collier, and her three children.

Doug Glass, Vice President and General Manager - Energy

Doug Glass was named Vice President and General Manager - Energy in April 2005.  He is responsible for managing Union Pacific's coal and petroleum coke shipments.  Coal is Union Pacific's largest commodity representing over $2.3 billion of annual revenue.  The business unit manages all commercial aspects of the coal business, including coordinating the operation of the network to provide coal deliveries to its customers.

Doug joined Union Pacific in 1976.  He holds bachelor of Science and Arts degrees from the University of Colorado, a master's of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and attended Harvard University's Program for Management Development in 1988.

Eric Butler, Vice President and General Manager - Industrial Products

Eric Butler was appointed Vice President and General Manager - Industrial Products in April 2005. Prior to that appointment, Eric was Vice President-Automotive, a position he held since May 2003.  Since joining Union Pacific in 1986, Eric has held a variety of positions, including Vice President - Supply and Vice President-Planning & Analysis and Director of Corporate Compensation.

Eric received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1981 and an MSIA in 1986, both from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Eric and his wife Cynthia have three children.

John Kaiser, Vice President and General Manager - Intermodal

John Kaiser was named Vice President and General Manager - Intermodal in 2003. He is responsible for managing Union Pacific's intermodal business unit, representing approximately $2.0 billion in annual revenue. John joined Union Pacific in 2002 as Vice President and General Manager - Automotive.

John earned an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech prior to working in the nuclear industry for Westinghouse Electric in Idaho. He then served in a number of positions for International Power Technology, an alternative energy company in Palo Alto, California, concluding with his role as Director of Operations and Business Development. Graduating with an MBA from Stanford University, John joined Emerson Electric in St. Louis. He served as Director of Investor Relations before being named President of SWECO and later became President of Xomox Corporation, both divisions of Emerson Electric.

John and his wife, Felicia Hutnick, have three children.

Drew R. Collier, Vice President - Mexico

Drew Collier is currently Vice President - Mexico in the Marketing & Sales Department of the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. In this role he has responsibility for management of the UP sales force in Mexico and development of overall strategy for Mexico. Prior to this responsibility, which started in February 2001, he served as Vice President-Business Planning in Network Design and Integration, and as Vice President and General Manager for Agricultural Products in Marketing & Sales. Drew has worked in the railroad industry over 30 years and has been with the Union Pacific and its predecessor the Western Pacific, since 1978.

Drew is a native of Seattle and his educational background includes undergraduate work at the University of Washington and executive programs at Harvard, Penn State, Northwestern, and the Center for Creative Leadership. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Farm Foundation and is a sustaining member of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics.

Thomas Gehl - Senior Assistant Vice President - Marketing & Sales Operations

Thomas Gehl is Senior Assistant Vice President - Marketing & Sales Operations. He is responsible for several marketing support functions, as well as damage prevention efforts and UP's Market Development and Sales Center. In his prior position, Tom was the Assistant Vice president - Automotive. In this position, he was responsible for the commercial development of the railroad's business relationship with Ford Motor Company.

During his more than 25 years with the railroad, Gehl has held management assignments in numerous Marketing and Sales functions, including the Intermodal, Chemical, Food Products, Consumer Products, Government and Automotive business groups. He has also held positions in executive administration and field sales at the railroad.

Gehl earned a bachelor's degree at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and a master's degree in industrial administrative sciences from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Tom and his wife, Loreen, are the parents of two children.
