San Antonio Intermodal Facility

Construction is well underway for a new intermodal facility in San Antonio, Texas (Bexar County). The 300-acre San Antonio Intermodal Terminal (SAIT) is located just 13 miles from downtown San Antonio. Designed to support the increasing intermodal volume in the country's twelfth-fastest growing county (2000-2006), SAIT's key location provides quick, convenient access to the city of San Antonio and the entire South Texas market.

Trucks will gain access to the terminal via a high-tech, biometric secured AGS (automated gate system) entrance. This technology allows a trucker to process a container through the gate in 30-90 seconds, as compared to a national average of four minutes. Built with quality in mind, this clean, safe, state-of-the-art facility will provide nearby highway and interstate access to maximize trucker convenience.

SAIT is strategically located on Interstate 35 near the 410 beltway interchange. This location is directly southwest of the two existing San Antonio intermodal facilities, which it will replace. Construction of the facility began in August 2007 and will be completed in late 2008.
