Gondola Cars

General Description

Gondolas are used to ship heavy andor bulk commodities such as scrap metal, aggregates, woodchips, finished steel, and structural or dimensional products such as steel beams and poles. Gondolas can be covered or open, with fixed sides and ends or drop ends and solid or drop bottoms, depending on the customer's loading requirements. Generally, higher quality products, such as coiled steel, steel plate, and high grade ores are shipped in covered gondolas for maximum weather protection.
