Generally these cars are used for loads that have special securement needs and either do not require protection from the weather or are protected with covering or wrapping provided by customers. They are available in a variety of lengths, tonnage capacities and designs for specialized ladings.

Flat Car

Bulkhead Flat
This type is used to minimize load shifting.

 

 
Centerbeam
A spine in the center makes this car ideal for lumber shipments. Cars are designed with cables or other securement systems to hold the load on the car.
