Background on Mine
The North Antelope loadout began commercial operations in 1983; the Rochelle loadout began commercial operations in 1986. The mine uses a combination of trucks and shovels and a dragline for overburden removal. Coal is crushed to 2"x0" and sold on a raw basis. Coal seam thickness is 65 feet.
