General Overview

Chevron Mining Inc., a Chevron company based in Englewood, Colorado, has been producing coal for its customers since 1885. Coal mining operations in Alabama, New Mexico and Wyoming produce nearly 14 million tons per year. The Kemmerer mine has a capacity of five million tpy and produced 5 million tons in 2008.

Approximately 60% of Chevron Mining's production is sold to electric utilities, with the remainder sold to industrial accounts producing such products as cement, sugar, soda ash, activated carbon and more.

Since its founding, Chevron Mining Inc. has produced coal in a safe, environmentally sound manner in both underground and surface operations.
