Domestic shipments of Consumer Electronics are restricted on the UPRR. Liability will be limited to $100,000 per container/trailer UNLESS the waybill shipper and/or shipper's agent bill the Intermodal shipment with UPRR's High Value STCC AND provide evidence of securing the shipment with a Theft Deterrent Barrier Seal as defined by Union Pacific.

Union Pacific defines a theft deterrent barrier seal as an individually numbered seal designed to prevent entry into the container/trailer by ordinary seal removal techniques, such as bolt cutters. Furthermore, a theft deterrent barrier seal must either wrap around the locking bars and/or enclose the hasp mechanism on the right door of the container/trailer. Examples of theft deterrent barrier seals include the ISO Seal, Navalock, OneSeal (Hair-Pin 3000), War-Lok. If you have questions about acceptable theft deterrent barrier seals, please contact Damage Prevention prior to shipment.

In addition to the provision listed above, the form below must also be completed and submitted to Union Pacific prior to container/trailer rail-loading for waybill shipper to receive maximun liability as addressed in MITA 310.

This seal form submission is not necessary if the Shipper has provided the High Value Stcc Code, the Theft deterrent seal number and a commodity description with piece count on the electronic billing.
