What is Union Pacific's strategy to transport ethanol to the California market? Union Pacific is implementing a transportation plan that allows the producers and receivers the flexibiity to control their transportation options. Multiple service and price options will be offered from all origins to all destinations. |
Operationally, how will Union Pacific implement their strategy? Union Pacific will utilize existing rail service from the Midwest to North Platte, Nebraska and unit train services when appropriate. The current infrastructure allows producers the ability to release single-car multiple-car and unit train shipments. An ethanol train will be created at North Platte to expedite ethanol to the storage yards in Northern and Southern California. |
How will my carloads be processed in California? Union Pacific will implement a dedicated ethanol service train that will transfer cars directly from the Northern and Southern California ethanol storage yards to each ethanol receiver. |
How will my ethanol shipments be managed from the producer to the receiver? Union Pacific will dedicate an operations coordinator to manage your pipeline inventory from origin to destination. This dedicated coordinator will communicate with the producers, receivers and the railroad daiy. The operations coordinator will manage ethanol shipment releases and deliveries, manage inventory at the storage yard, monitor service levels and address problem resolution. |
Is Union Pacific willing to invest in the existing infrastructure to improve California ethanol receiver rail capacity? Yes, Union Pacific realizes the long-term opportunity that we both share. Union Pacific is committed to meeting our customer's expectations. |
